Jamie Oliver has a vast range of stunning photography which they wanted to be able to feature in dedicated photo galleries and galleries embedded in editorial pieces.

After investigating several commercial gallery libraries we decided that in order to create a system which perfectly suited the companies’ needs I should build a gallery viewer and management CMS from scratch.

Bespoke gallery management

The content management system for the image galleries was custom build in an MVC pattern using Bootstrap as the front end framework. The aim was to make something intuitive and very easy to use.
It allows multiple images to be uploaded at once, drag and drop ordering and full control of all gallery, image and social media meta data.

Responsive gallery viewer

The front end for the galleries is completely responsive and uses bxslider javascript library as the base for the image slider.
Each gallery can have either a landscape or portrait layout and the full screen option offers a really nice, clean view which highlights the photography at its best.

Embeddable and sharable

A custom plugin for WordPress was build which allows galleries to be embedded in to articles using a simple shortcode.
The galleries use ajax friendly sharable URLs which contain optimised meta data for great looking share stories on Facebook and Twitter.
